About The Position

Medical director for a hospice team in RI caring for between 80-100 home hospice patients. This role involves 16 hours per week for clinical visits to patients, Interdisciplinary Group (IDG) meetings, and covering calls from team nurses. Additionally, there are 8 hours per week dedicated to being the "Doctor of the Day," supporting daily hospice admissions. Responsibilities include collaborating with admission nurses to assess eligibility, issuing certification of terminal illness statements, making decisions on medication coverage, and providing initial hospice care until the primary hospice team assumes responsibility. There is a potential to combine this position with inpatient palliative care for those seeking a full-time role. The position is within an established hospice team, part of an organization with seven home hospice teams.

Requirements

  • Medical Doctor qualification.
  • Experience in hospice or palliative care.
  • Ability to work 16 hours/week for clinical visits, IDG, and nurse call coverage.
  • Ability to work 8 hours/week as "Doctor of the Day" for admissions support.
