About The Position
Interim HealthCare is hiring a Hospice Certified Nursing Assistant to provide compassionate, person-centered care to hospice patients and support their families. The role focuses on comfort, dignity, and respectful care during end-of-life journeys. CNAs work independently with 1:1 CNA-to-patient ratios and collaborate with hospice nurses to follow each patient’s care plan. The position serves Metairie, Kenner, New Orleans Lakeview, and Chalmette, Louisiana. PRN hours are available.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Active Louisiana Nursing Assistant Certification.
- At least six months of home health or home-based hospice experience.
- CPR certification.
- Valid Louisiana driver’s license, auto insurance, and transportation.
- Compassionate nature and good communication skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Responsibilities
- Assist patients with daily activities, including bathing, toileting, dressing, grooming, hygiene, nail and skin care, eating, and nutritional intake.
- Check vital signs, measure intake and output, and document changes.
- Work with hospice nurses to ensure the patient’s care plan is followed.
- Observe patients and notify a supervisor about issues that may require a change in care, medication, or medical equipment.
- Make supply deliveries and work with other staff members as needed.
