About The Position

As a hospice aide, provide compassionate, hands-on care that helps patients remain comfortable and maintain dignity throughout their end-of-life journey. Assist patients with personal care, mobility, activities of daily living, nutrition, and simple meal preparation and feeding. Provide light homemaking support related to patient care, help patients maintain independence and participate in meaningful activities, and observe and report changes in a patient’s condition to the registered nurse.

Care for hospice patients wherever they call home, including private residences and assisted living or skilled nursing facilities. Travel within the assigned service area and provide care under the supervision of a registered nurse as part of an interdisciplinary hospice team. The role supports VITAS Healthcare’s commitment to compassionate, personalized care that honors each patient’s wishes.

Requirements

• Approved hospice aide, home health aide, or nurse aide training and competency.
• Ability to travel as required by the role.
• State-specific certification requirements apply: AL—CNA; CA—CHHA; CT—Homemaker-Home Health Aide; DC, DE, FL, GA, PA, TX, VA, WI—CNA, HHA, or HA; IL—HHA or NA; KS, MO—Home Health Aide; OH—State Tested Nurse Aide; NJ—Homemaker-Home Health Aide.

Responsibilities
