About The Position

The Kitchen Exhaust Cleaning Technician independently performs the full kitchen exhaust cleaning (KEC) service lifecycle—setup, containment, pre-scrape, power washing, and final cleanup—on commercial kitchen exhaust systems. This role owns daily job execution, ensures compliance with NFPA 96 standards, protects customer environments, and produces accurate documentation while maintaining productivity, quality, and safety with minimal supervision. This is a part-time position.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently on jobs.
  • Must have a clean driving record and active driver’s license, if driving role.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, climbing ladders, and working in various environments.
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds.
  • Work performed in commercial kitchen environments.
  • Exposure to grease, chemicals, confined spaces, and elevated work areas.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work for extended periods.

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years of experience in commercial cleaning as a KEC apprentice or KEC technician is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform complete KEC services including setup and teardown of containment including hanging plastic sheeting, setting up ladders, wet/dry vacuums, hoses, pre-sprayers, mixing chemicals, and high-pressure washing equipment.
  • Pre-scrape grease buildup and power wash hoods, ducts, filters, and exhaust fans to NFPA 96 standards.
  • Perform final cleanup and restore kitchen environments to operational condition.
  • Protect customer facilities, appliances, and surrounding areas during all service activities.
  • Identify deficiencies, hazards, or non-compliant conditions and document findings.
  • Install and service first aid kits by mounting units, restocking supplies, and ensuring OSHA compliance through routine inspections and documentation, as required.
  • Complete accurate service reports and communicate results in a timely manner.
  • Inspect and maintain service vehicles and equipment; initiate repair requests as needed.
  • Operate vehicles and warehouse equipment to safely load/unload materials.
  • Monitor inventory and request supplies, materials, and equipment.
  • Safely handle and dispose of cleaning chemicals and hazardous materials.
  • Follow all company safety procedures including PPE and driver safety.
  • Use of hand tools and cleaning equipment.
  • Travel to job sites as required.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
