About The Position

Dover Hydraulics, a SunSource company, is a full-service hydraulic repair and engineering company that supports cylinders and components with testing, parts, and repair. The Hone Operator works in the machine shop, honing cylinder parts to size with large and hand-operated hones. This is an entry-level position with the long-term goal of moving into manual machining. The ideal candidate can measure using micrometers and is willing to learn.

Requirements

• Read inside- and outside-diameter micrometers.
• Perform basic math, including conversions between metric and standard units.
• Operate a crane.
• Operate a fork truck.
• Exert the pressure needed to operate the hand hone.
• Lift 50 pounds repetitively during an 8-hour shift.
• Be willing to learn.

Nice To Haves

• High school graduation with vocational training in the machine trades is desired.

Responsibilities

• Operate the large hone in the machine shop.
• Operate the hand hone in the machine shop.
• Change hone heads on both hone machines.
• Complete daily cleanup of the hone equipment and other machines as needed.
• Maintain an organized workspace and return tooling to its storage location.
• Report difficulties completing daily tasks.
• Follow DHI safety guidelines and report accidents or unsafe conditions.
• Accurately record start and stop times in the Job Tracking System (DATS).
• Train in the cylinder shop Honing Procedure DHI-CS-2001-010.
