About The Position

Dover Hydraulics, a SunSource company, is a full-service hydraulic repair and engineering company that supports industrial customers with cylinder and component testing, parts, and repair. The Hone Operator hones cylinder parts to size in the machine shop using large and hand hones. This is an entry-level position with the long-term goal of progressing to manual machining. The position requires measuring with micrometers, maintaining equipment and an organized workspace, following safety guidelines, and recording work times in the Job Tracking System (DATS).

Requirements

• Ability to read ID/OD micrometers.
• Basic math skills, including metric-to-standard conversions.
• Crane operation skills.
• Fork truck operation skills.
• Ability to exert the pressure needed to operate a hand hone.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs. repetitively during an 8-hour shift.
• Willingness to learn.

Nice To Haves

• High school graduation with vocational training in the machine trades is desired.

Responsibilities

• Operate the large hone in the machine shop.
• Operate the hand hone in the machine shop.
• Change hone heads on both the large and hand hones.
• Complete the daily clean-up procedure for the hone equipment and other machines as needed.
• Maintain an organized workspace and return tooling to its storage location.
• Report difficulties completing daily tasks.
• Follow DHI safety guidelines and report accidents or unsafe conditions.
• Accurately record start and stop times in the Job Tracking System (DATS).
• Train to the cylinder shop Honing Procedure DHI-CS-2001-010.
