About The Position

The HomeShare Project Lead's primary responsibility is to conduct outreach to seniors who may need a bit of help to stay in their own homes (e.g., snow shovelling, light housekeeping), and play a match-making function between these hosts and newcomers in transitional housing and others at risk of homelessness, so that both parties feel comfortable and supported in entering into a shared living arrangement.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma preferred, with a background in social services, social enterprise/social innovation, and/or conflict resolution an asset.
  • Fluent in English and French, oral and written
  • Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills in order to deal effectively, professionally and diplomatically with staff, vulnerable residents, project partners, and clients.
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellence in customer service.
  • Minimum one year’s experience in a project management capacity (whether paid, volunteer, or student-led).
  • Conflict resolution/mediation skills required.
  • Self-starter with strong organizational skills, good time management, project planning and execution ability, and attention to detail.
  • Applicants must already have a valid permit to work in Canada.
  • A Police Record check, not more than 6 months old is required.
  • Semi-annually, staff must complete the mandatory training for the protection of Children & Youth and submit the certificate of completion.

  • Valid Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Developing and implementing project plans, timelines, and milestones.
  • Supporting a project steering committee (meeting agendas, minutes, terms of reference, etc.).
  • Interviewing home-seeking applicants and hosts for their needs, circumstances, and preferences.
  • Match-making between hosts and applicants, building on the experience of other home-sharing services.
  • Follow-up conflict resolution support.
  • Fielding general inquiries about the project.
  • Documenting pilot project successes, challenges, and lessons learned for knowledge exchange purposes, supported by other YMCA Housing Services staff and potential external research partners.
  • Liaison with partners, including Canada HomeShare and their technology platform, Happipad.
  • Preparing reports to funders, including operational data, project outcomes, and financial information
