The Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) is seeking a compassionate Homemaker to support clients by creating a clean, safe, and welcoming home environment. In this role, your personal connection with clients is just as important as the household tasks you complete. The schedule is Monday–Friday 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM with no evenings, weekends, or major holiday shifts! As a Homemaker, you will support clients by: Building warm, supportive relationships during every visit Helping maintain a clean and safe home through light housekeeping such as dusting, vacuuming, sweeping/mopping, dishes, laundry, and bathroom upkeep Preparing simple, nutritious meals and assisting with basic kitchen tasks Running small errands, including grocery shopping, as needed Bringing positivity, reliability, and respect into each client interaction You don’t need to be a gourmet chef—just someone who enjoys preparing meals, organizing spaces, and helping others live comfortably in their homes.
Requirements
- High school degree and/or a G.E.D. certificate
- Compassionate and sympathetic attitude with a sincere desire to help others while meeting the demands of the job
- Read, write, speak, and understand English with or without reasonable accommodations as needed for the job
- Able to lift at least 35 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Candidates must have a dependable, properly registered, and insured vehicle for daily travel between client locations. Proof of insurance (declarations page) will be required upon hire with minimum liability coverage ($100k/$300k/$100k).
- Current and valid driver’s license, clean driving record and be able to safely operate a vehicle
- All offers of employment are conditioned upon the result of a criminal background check conducted by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, as required by law and a negative finding on the Office of Inspector General’s Excluded Provider List.
