About The Position

Catholic Charities of Long Island is seeking a full-time Homemaker Aide to support its mission of providing dignified, compassionate care to neighbors on Long Island. The role involves delivering household assistance in clients’ residences and reporting changes in clients’ needs to a supervisor. The position is scheduled for 35 hours per week and pays $20.47 per hour, with benefits included. Actual pay may vary based on qualifications, skills, competencies, experience, and work location. The stated rate does not include differential pay or other forms of compensation, such as the value of benefits.

Requirements

Strong interest in working with seniors and compassion for them.
Experience completing household tasks.
Ability to operate cleaning equipment and household tools, including a vacuum, washing machine, dryer, and microwave.
Ability to use a computer, fax machine, copier, and telephone.
High school diploma or GED.
Valid New York State driver’s license.
Transportation to and from clients’ homes; local travel is required. The client is not permitted to travel in the employee’s vehicle.

Nice To Haves

Prior experience as a Companion, Helper, and/or Home Aide.
A car is preferred.

Responsibilities

Perform household cleaning in clients’ residences, including dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, and dishwashing.
Use and clean household appliances.
Make and change clients’ beds and complete laundry.
Immediately report problems or changes in client needs to a supervisor, such as a need for bathing or personal-care assistance.
