About The Position

The purpose of this position is to support the operation of the winter shelter site and provide support to people experiencing homelessness who are utilizing the shelter service. This role is responsible for the daily tasks involved in operating the winter shelter site, assisting with intake processes, coordinating transportation, serving food, and contributing to a welcoming environment for all guests.

Responsibilities

• Support the operation of the winter shelter site and help meet the needs of persons experiencing homelessness.
• Perform tasks involved in operating the winter shelter site, including setting up and breaking down the site daily (placement of mats/cots, cleaning, moving and inventorying supplies).
• Assist with shelter intake processes, including data collection and data entry into the County’s Homeless Management Information System (HMIS).
• Assist with the coordination of transportation services to and/or from the shelter site.
• Serve and distribute food to shelter guests.
• Support the Shelter Site Lead, Shelter Director, and relevant partners in shelter guest de-escalation and other client engagement efforts.
• Work with the Shelter Site Lead and Shelter Director to create a welcome environment for all shelter guests.
