About The Position

The City of Redmond is seeking a Homeless and Housing Stability Program Coordinator to provide housing navigation and outreach to individuals and families at risk of or experiencing homelessness. This role is part of the City’s Outreach Response Team within the Human Services Division and works alongside the Homeless Outreach Administrator. The Program Coordinator is a human services professional who collaborates with local non-profits to connect clients to resources and supports the City’s THRIVE: Community Health Team goals by providing safety, stability, opportunity, and hope.

Requirements

  • Three years’ experience in case management supporting individuals with housing insecurity and/or experiencing homelessness.
  • Knowledge of and ability to work effectively within the regional homelessness response system with nonprofit organizations, government agencies, and other groups to collaborate and connect individuals with services and benefits.
  • Ability to build trust and support the needs of individuals and families at risk of or experiencing homelessness that is person-centered and culturally relevant.
  • Skills in conflict resolution, de-escalation techniques, motivational interviewing, and problem-solving.
  • Ability to assess risk level of engagement with individuals using independent judgment to respond in a manner that is safe and appropriate.
  • General understanding of state and federal housing laws and landlord-tenant rights.
  • Ability to organize weekly schedule, prioritize tasks, follow through on given assignments, accurately show progress, and demonstrate reliability in appointments with individuals through timely and effective communication and follow-up.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Moderate computer proficiency, including electronic management of case notes and records; ability to track and report out program metrics.
  • Communicate and interact effectively with diverse stakeholders including law-enforcement, non-profit partners, and the public in ways that are culturally responsive and respectful.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid WA State Driver's license required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with people experiencing homelessness, mental health, and/or low-income populations preferred.
  • College degree or coursework preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to the Homeless Outreach Program, including connecting individuals experiencing or at risk of homelessness with local provider resources and coordinating administrative and service needs.
  • Conduct direct outreach and in-person support to clients.
  • Assist individuals in accessing appropriate service providers and coordinating service delivery, including connection to behavioral health services, housing, treatment services, employment services, and basic needs services.
  • Provide direct transportation to shelters, appointments, and other services.
  • Provide back-up support for the City of Redmond’s THRIVE Program.
  • Conduct assessments, document client interactions, and assist with social services, benefits, and housing applications.
  • Support individuals at risk of losing their housing by identifying short and long-term solutions to prevent eviction and/or homelessness.
  • Participate in cross-departmental case consultations and coordinate with cross-department staff (Parks, Police, Fire) to address homelessness and housing-related issues.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with external community partners and agencies to make referrals and connections.
  • Work proactively with local and regional outreach teams, housing providers, and human services organizations to understand community resources.
  • Stay apprised of services, programs, and eligibility criteria for accessing resources.
  • Identify gaps and provide recommendations to shape the city’s response to homelessness and housing instability.
  • Conduct follow-up visits as necessary to ensure continuity of care and support the transition to stability and independence.
  • Maintain accurate records, data, and materials related to client interactions, ensuring comprehensive documentation and case management.
  • Other duties as assigned.
