About The Position

The Heartshare St. Vincent’s Services (HSVS) Nuevo Camino program provides a supportive and nurturing environment for 38 unaccompanied minors, ages 5-12. The program offers transitional foster homes, daily education Monday-Friday, and wrap-around services in Brooklyn, New York City. The program is committed to trauma-informed, culturally appropriate service delivery tailored to each child's needs, while adhering to all ORR program requirements. Home Finders are responsible for ensuring that every youth in transitional care has a safe, healthy, and nurturing foster home. They must strictly follow and accurately document all agency, city, state, and federal regulations and requirements. Additionally, Home Finders aim to make foster families feel supported and valued, providing them with training and guidance to help them raise happy, healthy, and secure children.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or equivalent.
  • 2 years of similar experience.
  • BiLingual Spanish required.
  • Driver’s License.
  • Stable judgment.
  • Sensitivity to various cultures and the unique history of refugees.
  • Exceptionally organized and detail-oriented.
  • Successful in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Commitment to Nuevo Camino's core mission and values and an ability to model those values in relationships with colleagues and partners.
  • Commitment to empowering refugees and migrants.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in child welfare/case management strongly preferred.
  • Prior experience working with refugee and/or immigrant populations preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Completing detailed, accurate, and timely written reports on all homes assigned, including annual reauthorization narratives, home studies for newly trained and kinship homes, and addenda as needed.
  • Ensuring that all foster homes on their workload have complete, accurate, tidy, and audit-ready case record files at all times.
  • Serving as the point of contact for all foster families on their individual workloads.
  • Assisting and supporting foster parents in meeting challenges and achieving success through administrative meetings, referrals for additional services, or other interventions.
  • Receiving training and certification to deliver required foster parent training and subsequently delivering said training.
  • Participating in required ORR – Nuevo Camino training per federal and state mandates.
