About The Position

This role is responsible for all steps related to the origination of mortgage loans. This includes reviewing new loan applications, conducting interviews, and processing preliminary documentation. The consultant will discuss loan alternatives, credit criteria, interest rates, and loan documentation. They will prepare and issue conditional loan approvals, notify members of loan approval or denial, and explain denials clearly. Additionally, the role involves counseling members on money management and financial matters, resolving loan application problems, and assisting applicants with credit report issues, appraisals, salary levels, and debt ratios. The consultant will review information for completeness and accuracy, clarify missing or questionable information, and resolve or refer requests and problems promptly. Staying informed about lending standards, legal requirements, and market trends is crucial. The role also includes assisting Mortgage Loan Processors, keeping management informed, and promoting other Georgia United lending products. Building strong internal relationships is also a key aspect of this position.

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing new loan applications
  • Conducting interviews and processing preliminary documentation on loan requests
  • Discussing loan alternatives, credit criteria, interest rates, and loan documentation
  • Preparing and issuing conditional loan approvals
  • Notifying members of loan approval or denial and explaining denials
  • Counseling members regarding money management and financial matters
  • Resolving loan application problems and assisting applicants with credit report issues, low appraisals, low salary levels, and high debt ratios
  • Reviewing information for completeness and accuracy and clarifying missing or questionable information
  • Resolving or referring requests and problems promptly and courteously
  • Staying informed of lending standards, related legal requirements, and trends in local real estate and competitive market
  • Assisting and supporting Mortgage Loan Processors as needed
  • Keeping management informed of area activities and significant problems
  • Promoting other potential opportunities within Georgia United’s retail and consumer lending product suite
  • Promoting and establishing strong, positive, and productive working relationships within the organization
