About The Position

Programs for Parents (PFP) is a mission-driven nonprofit serving Essex County, NJ, dedicated to ensuring every child gets the best possible start in life. We empower families, support childcare providers, and advocate for quality early childhood education through education, referrals, promoting best practices, and connecting families with financial resources. We seek a dedicated and responsible Home Inspector/Trainer for our Provider Management Department, which is responsible for the certification of Family Child Care providers, the approval of Family Friend and Neighbor providers, and the oversight of CACFP participants. This role involves conducting home inspections, providing training and technical assistance, promoting compliance, and supporting childcare providers throughout Essex County. The Home Inspector/Trainer will communicate in English and Spanish, providing Spanish translation as needed, to ensure providers meet licensing requirements and/or Department of Human Services/Division of Family Development (DHS/DFD) requirements for funding under the Child Care Assistance Program.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required
  • Communicate proficiently in Spanish, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to carry/lift up to 25 pounds

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree preferred
  • Experience in human services or the child development industry (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Scheduling and conducting home inspections.
  • Scheduling and conducting Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid training.
  • Ensuring compliance with Child Abuse and Criminal History Record Checks.
  • Uploading/syncing completed inspection reports to the database.
  • Communicating with the Director when pre-enforcement and/or enforcement is recommended.
  • Explaining provider eligibility requirements and providing technical assistance.
  • Providing orientation training and disseminating health and safety information.
  • Organizing and maintaining files in audit-ready condition.
  • Participating in staff meetings and professional development as required.
  • Maintaining, securing, and safeguarding confidential information.
  • Providing other related duties as requested, assigned, or directed to meet the needs of the Department.
