Home Health Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
About The Position
Suru provides outpatient occupational therapy in patients’ homes across Southern California and is seeking licensed Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) to treat patients near where they live and work. The role involves providing follow-up visits in patients’ homes. A licensed occupational therapist completes each evaluation and plan of care and is available to answer questions. Plans of care typically involve two to three visits per week for 12 weeks and may be renewed when continued therapy is appropriate. Suru notifies the assistant through its app when nearby patients need visits; the assistant chooses which patients to accept and arranges visit times directly with them. Suru handles intake, insurance, evaluations, and billing. Routine visit notes are completed in the app by voice dictation, review, and submission, and take about a minute. Compensation is per completed visit, comparable to home health, with weekly direct deposit. The position is performed as a 1099 independent contractor. To start, applicants complete onboarding in the Suru app or at app.gosuru.com, providing their license, service area, availability, and desired rate. Once approved, they can see available patients in their area.
Requirements
- Active California COTA license.
- A local business license; an LLC is not required.
- Work as a 1099 independent contractor.
