About The Position

The Home Health and Hospice Director is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, controlling, and evaluating home health and hospice services and operations to optimize the quality of care in alignment with Bethesda's philosophy. This role involves patient management, scheduling, budget management, quality management, and overseeing the overall operations of home health and hospice services, including staff such as RNs, LPNs, home health and hospice aides, social workers, and scheduling/office support staff.

Requirements

  • Registered and licensed with the State of Minnesota as an RN and maintain a current and unrestricted licensure.
  • Nursing service administration, management and supervision experience.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Highly developed communication skills (oral and written).
  • Proven time management skills.
  • Understanding of basic quality principles.

Responsibilities

  • Select and assign personnel, including interviewing, hiring, and ensuring staff are appropriately licensed and oriented.
  • Monitor staff work performance through in-services, staff meetings, incident investigations, performance evaluations, and corrective actions.
  • Assure quality client care by overseeing the referral, admission, and scheduling process, protecting client rights, developing policies, ensuring compliance with regulations, and implementing a Quality Assurance/Improvement Program.
  • Manage agency finances by completing payroll, reviewing financial reports, coordinating with the billing office, ensuring necessary authorizations, maintaining contracts, business licenses, and developing the annual budget.
  • Market and promote home health and hospice services by maintaining liaison with staff, clients, families, and the community, working with referral sources, and participating in community events.
