About The Position

Visiting Angels Abilene is seeking compassionate Home Health Aides to support senior adults and others in need throughout Abilene and the surrounding Big Country area. The role includes companionship and assistance with everyday activities, such as light housekeeping, meal preparation, mobility, and transportation. Caregivers may have opportunities for advanced training in areas such as dementia care and Alzheimer’s care. Part-time, PRN, and various shift options are listed.

Requirements

Passion for serving others and being a caregiver.
Excellent knowledge of emergency response and first aid.
Knowledge of housekeeping activities and cooking, with attention to dietary constraints.
Willingness to adhere to health and safety standards.
Respectful and compassionate demeanor.
Good time management skills.
Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong ethics.
Physical endurance.
High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

Help clients take prescribed medication.
Assist clients with ambulation and mobility at home and outside the home, including attending appointments and taking walks.
Assist clients with personal care and hygiene.
Help clients with routine exercises.
Plan and prepare meals with clients’ assistance when they are able.
Shop for clients or accompany them while shopping.
Perform light housekeeping duties that clients cannot complete on their own.
Provide pleasant and supportive companionship.
Report unusual incidents.
Act quickly and responsibly in emergencies.
