The Home Energy Specialist conducts on-site technical assistance visits to verify compliance with program installation procedures, efficiency standards, and approved operating plans. The role uses diagnostic equipment—including blower doors, manometers, and infrared cameras—to identify cost-effective measures for each home, assess subcontractor performance, prepare weatherization reports, and perform final inspections. The specialist must maintain the certification required to conduct final inspections on DOE units. The position includes residential health, safety, and energy-upgrade assessments; final inspections and quality control; completing work orders and Building Weatherization Reports; and mentoring WAP Specialists in field procedures and documentation. The specialist also trains weatherization participants in energy-conservation techniques and maintains positive working relationships with contractors. Other duties may be assigned.
