About The Position

The Home Delivered Meals (HDM) Substitute Driver supports the Meals on Wheels program by delivering nutritious meals to seniors when regular drivers are unavailable or additional route coverage is needed. This is a part-time substitute position with flexible scheduling based on program needs. Days and hours may vary, and drivers cover different routes rather than having a regularly assigned route. Shifts are typically between 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., although hours may vary slightly. Drivers may use their personal vehicle, with proof of valid insurance, or an AgeWell Services company Transit van, depending on availability and assignment. Compensation includes an hourly wage and mileage reimbursement when using a personal vehicle. Candidates must meet all background screening requirements; certain criminal convictions may make applicants ineligible under applicable regulations. The role involves regular interaction with clients, coworkers, and program staff in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment supporting nutrition services for older adults and community members. It requires travel between program locations and delivery routes as assigned, work indoors and outdoors in varying weather, and the ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, twist, reach, and lift or carry meals and supplies as needed. Loading and unloading meal carriers and other delivery materials may also be required.
