The Histotechnician will play a critical role in supporting the operation, evaluation, and advancement of Clarapath s SectionStar and TrimStar Pro systems, our innovative solutions designed to improve and automate tissue sectioning and histology workflows. This position requires strong technical and histology expertise, attention to detail, and a thorough understanding of tissue processing, embedding, sectioning, staining, and slide preparation. Working closely with our engineering, research and development, and product teams, this individual will perform hands-on histology procedures, evaluate tissue and section quality, troubleshoot workflow and specimen-related issues, and provide valuable feedback to support product development and continuous improvement. We are seeking a proactive, detail-oriented Histotechnician who thrives in a fast-paced environment, follows established laboratory procedures and quality standards, and is eager to apply their histology expertise to help advance innovative technology for the pathology and laboratory industry.

Requirements

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Histotechnology, Biology, Laboratory Science, or a related scientific field preferred
  • HT or HTL certification preferred
  • 2+ years of hands-on histology laboratory experience preferred
  • Strong experience with tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, sectioning, staining, and slide preparation
  • Experience evaluating tissue sections and identifying common histology-related quality issues
  • Familiarity with laboratory equipment and troubleshooting techniques
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate documentation
  • Ability to follow established procedures while also identifying opportunities for process improvement
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced and evolving environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working in a pathology, histology, clinical laboratory, or research environment, a plus
  • Experience supporting laboratory equipment validation, testing, or product development activities, a plus
  • Experience working with automated histology or tissue sectioning equipment, a plus
  • Familiarity with quality systems, controlled documentation, and standard operating procedures, a plus
  • Interest in emerging technologies and the advancement of laboratory automation, a plus

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine histology procedures, including tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, sectioning, staining, and slide preparation
  • Prepare, handle, and evaluate tissue specimens in accordance with established laboratory procedures and quality standards
  • Evaluate tissue sections and slides for quality, consistency, and suitability for downstream analysis
  • Support the testing, validation, and evaluation of Clarapath products and technologies
  • Operate and assist in evaluating automated and electro-mechanical laboratory equipment, including tissue sectioning system
  • Identify and troubleshoot issues related to tissue preparation, section quality, equipment performance, and laboratory workflows
  • Document test results, observations, procedures, and findings accurately and consistently
  • Provide detailed feedback to Engineering and R&D teams regarding product usability, tissue quality, workflow performance, and opportunities for improvement
  • Assist with the development and refinement of laboratory procedures, work instructions, and standard operating procedures
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment
  • Follow all applicable laboratory safety procedures, quality requirements, and company policies
  • Maintain laboratory supplies, materials, and equipment as needed
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced product development environment
  • Support additional laboratory, product development, and testing activities as needed
