About The Position

The Student Pedagogy Partner will collaborate with Professor Jordan Reznick on a revision of AMS 130: Introduction to American Studies. The partner will bring a student perspective to evaluating the course’s readings, assignments, classroom activities, and overall structure, with particular attention to how effectively they support student learning and engagement. The position is designed as a collaborative pedagogy partnership rather than a clerical or administrative role. The student will meet regularly with Professor Reznick to discuss the course and participate in substantive decisions about its future design.

Requirements

• Experience in American Studies coursework
• Strong critical reading, writing, and research skills
• Ability to think critically about teaching and student learning
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, designing forms and other office procedures.
• Strong time management, oral and written communication skills, and ability to problem solve.

Nice To Haves

• AMS concentrator or substantial coursework in American Studies
• Previous completion of AMS 130
• Interest in pedagogy, curriculum development
• Familiarity with interdisciplinary approaches to American Studies

Responsibilities

• Reviewing and assessing existing course materials
• Identifying areas where students may experience difficulty, confusion, or disengagement
• Researching and evaluating potential new readings and campus resources
• Offering feedback on assignments and their sequencing
• Helping refine lesson plans and classroom activities
• Developing reading guides and other resources to support student preparation
• Contributing to revisions of the course’s scaffolding and learning outcomes
• Meet regularly with Professor Reznick to discuss the course and participate in substantive decisions about its future design
