About The Position

This posting is for an applicant pool for affiliate faculty in the History Department. These are temporary, part-time, non-tenure track academic positions that vary from semester to semester based on program needs. Screening of applicants occurs when positions become available, and not all applicants will be contacted or selected. Metropolitan State University (MSU Denver), established in 1965, serves over 16,000 diverse students, many of whom are underrepresented in higher education. It is a Hispanic-Serving Institution (gHSI) and the only Seal of Excelencia certified institution in Colorado, known for its affordable, flexible, and holistic education. The Department of History is seeking affiliate faculty to teach courses in person and online across a broad range of content.

Requirements

Master’s degree in history or closely related field.

Responsibilities

Teaching assigned classes in person or online by delivering course content to students.
Preparing course materials and lesson plans.
Grading student work and providing robust, timely feedback.
Addressing student questions consistent with university, college/school, and department policies.
Providing online or in-person academic support to students as needed and appropriate for the teaching assignment.
Providing instruction consistent with the content and learning objectives of the regular course syllabus and department course coordination policies.
Complying with university-wide student evaluation of instruction policies and peer observation policies.
Adapting and learning new modes of instruction.
Being sensitive to the educational needs of a diverse student population.
