About The Position

The Historical Interpreter II position at Brunswick Town/Fort Anderson State Historic Site in Winnabow, NC will provide visitor services functions. This includes giving tours, greeting visitors, living history interpretation, operating the sales desk, answering phone inquiries, maintaining and interpreting artifacts, scheduling group tours, assisting with planning and implementing special events, answering correspondence, and maintaining the Visitor Center in a clean and presentable manner. The role also involves completing semi-annual inventories, providing historical information for exhibits, publications, tours, and programming, and performing routine groundskeeping and semi-skilled site maintenance duties. The workweek is Tuesday through Saturday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, with some night work required during special events.

Requirements

  • High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma AND three years of experience in giving or developing museum tours; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be available to work the schedule of Tuesday - Saturday, 8:30am – 5:00pm, with occasional night and weekend work required as needed.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license issued from within the United States or be able to obtain one within 90 days of employment.
  • Must be able to do light physical activity, level- lifting up to 20lbs, use of arms, legs, exertion of force.
  • Must be able to climb a ladder.
