About The Position

The City of Waco is seeking a customer-focused, part-time Historic Site Assistant to join their team. This role will provide customer assistance, tours, and cashiering services to the public at the Waco Mammoth National Monument (WMNM) historic site. This position operates under basic supervision and is ideal for someone who loves working with people.

Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma or GED equivalent
  • 1 year customer service experience
  • Valid Texas Driver's License
  • Must successfully complete any additional background checks required for the position, which may include a CJIS background check, federal background check, or other applicable screenings (e.g., FAA).

Responsibilities

  • Provides courteous service to the public with tours and information, fee collection and merchandise sales.
  • Performs duties within scope of authority and training and in compliance with City policies.
  • Leads tours of the WMNM and explains history and details of the historic site.
  • Maintains cash and fund accounts and records.
  • Assists with merchandising, special events, and museum programs.
  • Cleans and maintains facilities and grounds.
  • Operates a City utility vehicle to access various work sites and transport people, equipment, and materials.
  • Occasionally uses a personal vehicle to attend community outreach and engagement events.
