About The Position

This position is responsible for performing technical duties in the preparation of surgical, autopsy, and cytology specimens for microscopic examination. It may also involve technical instruction of students in an ASCP-approved Histologic Technique program. The incumbent should be preparing to successfully pass the ASCP-HT examination, which requires a minimum of an Associate Degree.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of one college biology class and/or one college chemistry class.
• One (1) year of experience as a Histotechnology Trainee or Histology Technologist.
• Patience, mechanical ability, functional knowledge of anatomy, chemistry, and physiology.
• Experience in enzyme histochemistry and immunoperoxidase stains.
• Accuracy, reliability, working well under pressure, ability to finish a task once started, communication skills both oral and written.

Nice To Haves

• Associate's Degree.
• Good hand/eye coordination, speed with accuracy and good mental concentration.
