The Histology Generalist performs laboratory analyses and tests. In addition, they collect, prepare samples, set up instruments, identification verification, run tests, interpret, and release test results. This role is crucial for driving the future of pet health as part of Mars Science & Diagnostics. The Histology Generalist will accurately scan all slides and blocks returned from pathologists, process other add-on requests, organize test request forms with samples, sort priority and manifest samples, and receive biopsy samples from other labs. They will also be responsible for scanning TRFs, monitoring output for errors, and crosstraining in multiple specialties within the department. The role involves identifying problems, preparing tissue into representative sections, performing gross examinations on various specimens, setting up workstations for pathologists, reconciling pending lists, and performing manual stains. The Histology Generalist must exercise judgment in evaluating and reporting results, report technical/QC problems, and follow all applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), including safety and quality procedures. Maintaining a clean and organized work area, restocking supplies, and participating in lab efficiency improvements are also key responsibilities.
