About The Position
The Histology Tech supports patient care by performing histology techniques used in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. The role performs histology processing, including embedding, microtomy, and manual or automated staining, in accordance with standard operating procedures and accreditation requirements. The technician organizes and completes assigned work within scheduled timeframes. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 3:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The position is in the Histology area at Loyola Medical Center in Maywood, Illinois.
Requirements
- High school diploma plus training acquired through work experience or education.
- One to two years of previous job-related experience.
- Previous histology experience, including microtomy and embedding.
- Experience embedding and cutting with IHC or special staining.
Nice To Haves
- Experience in IHC and special staining.
- Associate's degree or equivalent training acquired through work experience or education.
- Registered HT or HTL (ASCP).
