About The Position

This role is responsible for collecting, maintaining, and analyzing medical records to ensure accurate and complete patient health information. The HIM/Medical Records Specialist/Technician will prioritize, locate, pull, assemble, track, and analyze medical records. Key responsibilities include checking and correcting Admission Reports for multiple names/MRNs, creating folders and assembling discharge charts, analyzing various discharge types, and flagging incomplete summaries and orders for physician signatures. The role also involves filing and maintaining the Physician Deficiency Room, entering complete Transfer/Discharge Summaries, and processing Authorizations to Release Protected Health Information. Accurate filing of charts and loose papers within assigned areas and maintaining clean aisles are also crucial. The position requires performing other duties as assigned by the HIM Manager and providing excellent customer service.

Requirements

  • Collect, maintain and analyze medical records to ensure accurate and complete patient health information.
  • Prioritize, locate, pull, assemble, track and analyze medical records.

  • Analyze Inpatient, IOP, and PHP discharges and complete Discharge Summary Plan Tracker.
  • Flag incomplete Transfer/Discharge Summaries and telephone orders for physicians to sign.
  • File and maintain the Physician Deficiency Room.
  • Enter complete Transfer/Discharge Summaries.
  • File and process properly authorized Authorizations to Release Protected Health Information in a timely manner.
  • Accurately files all charts belonging to assigned aisles to appropriate location daily.
  • Accurately files all loose papers for assigned files within three-business days of receipt.
  • Maintains clean aisles.
  • Performs other work as needed/assigned by the HIM Manager.
