About The Position

The HIM Director organizes, plans, and responds to the day-to-day operations of the department, including scheduling, complaints, concerns, questions, and problems. This role involves reporting on record reviews for accuracy, completeness, timeliness, and compliance with accepted standards. The Director will evaluate, write, and revise departmental policies and procedures, performance appraisals, and job descriptions. Key responsibilities include collecting, analyzing, prioritizing, and reporting on all departmental functions related to the maintenance and function of various computer systems, such as Meditech, data dictionaries, data entry, accuracy, retrieval, incomplete chart processing, chart locator, and data integrity. The Director will develop goals and priorities for departmental functions, report on progress to Administration and Medical Staff functions, and prepare and monitor Capital and Operational budgets. This role also involves evaluating, selecting, or recommending and procuring personnel and technology for the department. The HIM Director will act as a liaison with other departments, physicians, and Administration, and must be knowledgeable regarding various accrediting and certifying bodies (JCAHO, DNV, DOH, etc.) and their rules, regulations, and standards, monitoring and reporting compliance. Additionally, the Director will coordinate responses to coding denials, including denial tracking and reporting of trends and results.

Requirements

  • Must be graduate of an Accredited Medical Record Technician or Medical Record Administrator program.
  • A minimum of 3 years' managerial experience required.

Responsibilities
