The Highway Sign Worker position with the Department of Transportation offers the chance to help keep local roads safe for all travelers. Requirements

  • One year of experience as a painter's helper or other work leading to journeyman skills in sign painting; and such training as may have been gained through completion of the eighth school grade; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions.

Responsibilities

  • Install and maintain highway signs using correct placement tools and procedures
  • Replace damaged signs, clear brush, and paint structures to support safe roadways
  • Operate and care for hand tools and light power equipment used in daily tasks
  • Follow environmental requirements outlined in training and district guidelines
  • Support quality service through teamwork, communication, and problem solving
  • Perform maintenance tasks that follow standard practices and require sound judgment
