About The Position

We are pleased to offer the opportunity to work as a Highway Maintenance Supervisor within the DuPage County Division of Transportation. This position is included in the Bargaining Unit of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 150, Supervisory Unit. The salary displayed for this position is the minimum hiring salary in accordance with this collective bargaining agreement. This position is eligible for our complete benefit package including medical, dental and vision insurance, flexible spending accounts, life insurance, pension, deferred compensation plan, tuition reimbursement, pre-paid legal and credit union. Requirements

  • Completion of a High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma equivalent
  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in the operation of heavy construction equipment or specialized complex equipment
  • Two (2) years supervising work crews
  • Must have at the time of hire and be able to maintain a valid Illinois Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and must have an Air Brake Endorsement.
  • A post offer physical is required.
  • A pre-employment background check is required.

Responsibilities

  • Assigns, delegates, supervises and inspects the work of subordinate workers engaged in equipment operations and crew duties for assigned area
  • Recommends such action for crew leaders and crews
  • Trains employees
  • Completes daily reports of needed and completed maintenance
  • Determines what equipment, material and traffic signs are necessary to complete projects safely and efficiently
  • Operates various road/path maintenance equipment
  • Evaluate and prioritize necessary road and trail repairs
  • Oversees and coordinates all activities related to the management of snow and ice operations
  • Is subject to being on-call for emergency maintenance service at all times including during snow and ice operations
  • Recommends hires and promotions, directs and evaluates employment decisions for all assigned positions
