About The Position

JMT's hands-on Internship Program provides an opportunity to work first-hand on real projects with experienced staff in our McKinney, Texas office. Interns will be responsible for various tasks and projects to enhance their experience in the field utilizing their education. Immigration sponsorship or support (e.g. H1B, F-1 CPT/OPT/STEM OPT) is not available for this position, except for qualified candidates eligible for the TN visa classification.

Requirements

Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
Strong academic record.
Proficiency in MicroStation with Power Geopak and OpenRoads Designer is a plus.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Detail-oriented with good organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

Previous internship experience in highway engineering or a related field.
Familiarity with data entry systems.
Experience with research and data assembly.

Responsibilities

Enter data into systems
Make edits and updates to existing engineering drawings and projects in MicroStation with Power Geopak and OpenRoads Designer
Obtain design data from adjacent or similar projects and go-bys
Work with a team to coordinate new small-scale projects
Assemble data and research such as specific design standards and site information
Provide input on solutions to problems using basic theories and engineering fundamentals
Assist with layout and design of routine small and medium-sized engineering projects
Develop and prepare specifications
Maintain accurate and current project documentation
Participate in weekly seminars and end-of-internship presentation through the JMT Internship Program
Perform other related duties as assigned
