Civil Engineering Intern (Highway) - Summer 2027
About The Position
RS&H is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern to support its Transportation team in the El Paso, Texas office during Summer 2027. The intern will be mentored by and collaborate with engineering associates, assisting on conventional and design-build projects involving Texas roadway design. The role offers hands-on experience in the infrastructure engineering industry and exposure to technical standards and cost-effective engineering solutions. The Transportation team works on projects including managed toll lanes, corridor plans, runways, complex interchanges, and major roadways, partnering with transportation agencies and local governments.
Requirements
- Be a current student pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Civil Engineering at an ABET-accredited university.
- Have an anticipated graduation date between December 2027 and May 2028.
- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Be able to work on multiple assignments simultaneously.
- Have a strong work ethic aligned with the company's mission and core values.
Nice To Haves
- GPA of 2.5 or above.
- Prior internship or related experience.
- Experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
- Specific interest in Transportation/Roadway Design.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine calculations requiring knowledge and application of basic engineering principles.
- Prepare and revise plan documents and details.
- Collect and prepare data for evaluation.
- Perform engineering tasks using computer-assisted design software and equipment.
- Provide support to engineering and project management associates.
