Highway/DOT Program Manager
About The Position
Lead multiple heavy highway and DOT projects while overseeing Project Managers and project teams across roadway, bridge, structures, and related heavy civil work. This senior leadership role is responsible for project performance, team development, and consistent execution across the program. About the Company Established transportation contractor delivering heavy highway, bridge, structures, and infrastructure projects throughout Georgia. Collaborative team connecting project management, field operations, estimating, and leadership. Strong backlog with long-term growth opportunities for experienced heavy civil leaders.
Requirements
- Extensive contractor-side heavy highway and DOT project management experience.
- Proven experience overseeing multiple projects and leading or mentoring Project Managers.
- Strong background across roadway/heavy highway and bridge/structures construction.
- Strong understanding of project financials, forecasting, cost control, scheduling, change management, and field operations.
- Ability to identify at-risk projects and resolve issues before they escalate.
- Strong knowledge of heavy civil construction methods, production, subcontractors, and field execution.
- State DOT experience required; Georgia DOT experience preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities
- Oversee multiple concurrent highway and DOT projects and the Project Managers responsible for them.
- Monitor financials, forecasts, schedules, production, change management, and overall project performance.
- Identify cost, schedule, staffing, subcontractor, and operational risks early and drive corrective action.
- Support Project Managers with planning, execution, client issues, and escalated project challenges.
- Coordinate with Superintendents and field leadership on staffing, resources, production, and execution.
- Oversee estimating handoffs, project startup, buyout, procurement, and execution planning.
- Provide leadership across roadway, bridge, retaining-wall, concrete, drainage, utility, and related heavy civil scopes.
- Develop Project Managers and drive consistent project controls and operating standards across the team.
