About The Position

AlphaGov is engaging an experienced consultant for current-state work supporting a state education department that is modernizing systems used by its office of college and university evaluation. The consultant will assess regulatory workflows, define modernization requirements, advise on data and technology considerations, and support implementation planning and change management.

AlphaGov delivers public-sector consulting to cities, counties, school systems, special districts, utilities, and related agencies. Its work includes classification and compensation, organizational and operational studies, research and program evaluation, economic and workforce analysis, surveys and community research, and applied data and infrastructure research. Engagements are project-based and remote-first, with occasional client travel. Scope, schedule, and fee are confirmed before an engagement begins. With the consultant’s authorization, AlphaGov may identify them as an expert collaborator or key personnel on relevant proposals.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of professional experience in higher-education regulation, accreditation, or state education IT modernization.
• Experience in requirements and business-process analysis.
• Comfortable working as a 1099 project-based consultant.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with NYSED or a state higher-education agency.
• Experience with low-code case management platforms such as Salesforce, ServiceNow, or Dynamics.
• PMP certification.

Responsibilities

• Assess academic program registration, institutional review, and evaluation workflows.
• Define requirements for case and workflow modernization.
• Advise on data migration, public portals, and integrations.
• Support implementation planning and change management.
• When authorized, contribute qualifications and past-performance narrative to AlphaGov proposals.
