This position requires participation and successful progression in the CPP until Level 4 certification has been obtained. The role involves maintaining fixtures and performing lighting preventive maintenance inspections (PMI) on campus outdoor lighting systems, including streetlights, parking lot lights, exterior building lights, and traffic signals. Responsibilities include performing manhole PMI and pump outs, infrared terminations and splices for switches, and routine preventive maintenance and repair of standard electrical distribution equipment. The technician will also perform transformer PMI settings, gauges maintenance, infrared testing, oil sampling, gas analysis, record amps, substation battery tests, crosswalk inspections, and relay PMI. Additionally, the role includes maintaining the line truck vehicle PMI, assisting in pole PMI, cross arms maintenance, ground resistance readings, and substations infrared testing. Cleaning, maintaining, and repairing all equipment and tools used by the power distribution crew, including specialized vehicles, is also a key part of the job. The position requires maintaining records of routine maintenance and repairs.
