About The Position

This is a multi-level posting for a High Voltage Engineer position, which will be filled at the appropriate level based on education and experience. The role involves providing engineering services for the design and construction of high voltage line project additions to MidAmerican Energy Company's energy delivery system. Responsibilities include technical project management for various project phases such as scheduling, design, cost estimates, engineering specifications, drawings, materials procurement, construction contracts, cost tracking, and project cost projections. The position also requires assisting with engineering studies and investigations, preparing reports, and providing high voltage engineering assistance to other departments. Additionally, the role involves providing technical input for project planning and applying prescribed methods and standard practices in high voltage line projects, while assisting senior engineering staff on more complex projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Project management skills; ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
  • One to three years of engineering experience (for Engineer 2 level).
  • 5 years industry experience (for Sr Engineer level).
  • 8 years industry experience (for Sr Engineer 2 level).
  • 15 years industry experience as a practicing engineer, including experience performing highly technical work of specialized nature (for Principal Engineer level).
  • PE license preferred (for Sr Engineer level).
  • Requires PE (for Sr Engineer 2 and Principal Engineer levels).
  • If no PE license, must have 10 years as a practicing engineer (for Sr Engineer 2 level).

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering services for the planning, design and construction of project additions to MidAmerican Energy Company's energy delivery system.
  • Provide technical project management for certain phases of a project including scheduling, design, estimates, engineering specifications, drawings, materials procurement, construction contracts, cost tracking and project cost projections.
  • Assist with engineering studies and investigations and assist with preparing oral and written reports.
  • Provide engineering assistance to other departments and perform any additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.
  • Provide technical input to assist in development of project planning.
  • Performs additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.
