About The Position

The High Speed Trainset Electrical Technician works on Amtrak’s High Speed Trainsets as a troubleshooter and repair person. The role requires knowledge of electrical power, control, onboard passenger comfort systems, and onboard safety systems. The technician performs repair, maintenance, servicing, and inspection activities in accordance with HST Maintenance practices. The position requires completion of the required High Speed Rail Training Program and a high school diploma or GED. The technician must be able to lift items weighing up to 50 pounds and have excellent written and oral communication skills. Travel requirements are up to 25%.

Working knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.

Responsibilities

Perform required inspections, troubleshoot and monitor systems, and determine required corrective action.
Train members of the craft and other Trainset mechanics in the operation and repair of systems and components to improve their skill levels.
Use working knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems to make repairs based on received training.
Work in a team environment and perform other work as required, regardless of classification, to the level of the technician’s ability.
Independently inspect, repair, or replace components; troubleshoot equipment; determine corrective actions; and identify causes of equipment failures within the scope of applicable craft agreements.
