About The Position

Under the general supervision of the School Principal, to develop students' skills and competence in English and the ability to problem solve in a wide variety of settings. The Bellingham Public School District's enrollment is approximately 1,930 students and an organizational staff of 400 employees. The district is split into the following building grade levels: DiPietro Elementary (Preschool – Grade 3), Stall Brook Elementary (Preschool – Grade 3) Bellingham Memorial School (grades 4-7) and Bellingham High School (grades 8-12), and Keough Memorial Academy (grades 7-12) is our therapeutic day school for students with special needs. Requirements

  • MA DESE English Licensure 5-12 Required.
  • Bachelor’s from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment.
  • Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles.

Nice To Haves

  • Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade level or discipline preferred.
  • Master’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and administers English curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.
  • Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.
  • Plans a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
  • Guides the learning process toward the achievement of established district curriculum goals, establishes and communicates clear objectives to the students for all lessons, units, and projects.
  • Maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and attendance as required.
  • Maintains an ongoing program of professional growth that satisfies district requirements but also satisfies personal expectations as a professional.
  • Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and administers standardized tests in accordance with district and state testing requirements.
  • Assume responsibility for related duties that may be assigned by the building principal.
  • Adheres to the adopted policies of the Bellingham School Committee.
