About The Position

The High School English Teacher at Kairos Academies is a mission-driven educator who brings English Language Arts instruction to life through rigorous, inquiry-based, and student-centered learning. This role combines content expertise with the Kairos instructional approach—empowering students to think critically, analyze deeply, and grow as self-directed learners and citizens. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s required
  • Valid Missouri ELA 9-12 certification (or willingness to certify ASAP)
  • 3+ years of high school ELA teaching preferred
  • Strong content mastery in English Language Arts or related field
  • Proven ability to use data to drive instruction
  • Eligible to work for any employer in the U.S
  • Pass criminal background check
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, student information systems, and digital platforms
  • Commitment to school safety protocols and emergency procedures

Responsibilities

  • Adapt and implement a standards-aligned curriculum
  • Design engaging lessons, unit plans, rubrics, and assessment
  • Analyze Gradient, NWEA, EOC, and internal assessments to inform instruction
  • Monitor student growth and differentiate supports accordingly
  • Facilitate student Circle once a week, as well as participate in all staff Circle once a week
  • Monitor your mentor group’s academic and behavior progress and provide support students in setting and reaching ambitious academic and character development goals
  • Provide guidance and support on students’ self-discovery work
  • Serve as a direct point-of-contact for Kairos families to communicate school-wide information
  • Cultivate a high-expectations, equitable classroom environment for up to 25 students
  • Build trusting relationships with students, families, and colleagues
  • Serve in one of our “whole-school service” roles (e.g., Grade-Level Lead, Civic Engagement Lead, Tutoring Lead, SEL Lead) to drive school wide initiatives and reinforce our values
