About The Position

Virginia Virtual Academy (VAVA), a Stride K12 partner school, seeks a state-certified educator to deliver course content in an online environment. The teacher provides instruction, support, and guidance; manages the learning process; and addresses students’ individual needs. Teachers monitor progress through Stride K12’s learning management system and work closely with students and parents or learning coaches to advance learning toward established goals. The position is remote and strongly prefers candidates residing in Virginia; candidates residing in Washington, DC, or Maryland may also be considered. Teachers typically work from home, maintain a professional home office without distractions, and work a schedule typically around 9–5 or 8–4, as defined by the school. The role requires the ability to work independently, typically 40 or more hours per week, and to travel for in-person professional development, testing, and other school events—on average once per month and/or approximately 20% of the time. The role supports VAVA’s mission to provide students with an individualized, engaging educational experience through school and community/family partnerships, a rigorous curriculum, and a data-driven, student-centered instructional model. The position is full-time and regular. The stated base salary is $50,000, with eligibility for a performance bonus. Employment is at-will. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential duties.
