About The Position

Freire Schools is hiring a Spanish Teacher for Freire Charter School Wilmington, an 8th–12th grade high school in Wilmington, Delaware. As a member of the instructional team, the teacher will deliver high-quality, standards-aligned Spanish curriculum that develops students’ speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills, promotes critical thinking, and supports high achievement. The role includes creating a respectful classroom culture, communicating with families about student progress, and collaborating with staff through professional development and other activities.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or higher.
Valid state teaching certification, or the ability and willingness to obtain certification.
Strong content knowledge and grasp of the Spanish language.
Positive attitude, sense of humor, and willingness to do whatever it takes to get a job done.
At least 2 years of previous successful experience working with diverse student populations.

Responsibilities

Create and maintain a classroom culture of critical thinking, learning, respect, and high achievement for all students.
Use content-specific curriculum and create learning materials that promote critical thinking and problem solving.
Establish consistent communication with families about individual student progress and school-related information.
Participate actively in professional development and collaborate with staff to support students’ needs.
