About The Position

Achievers Early College Prep Charter School (AECP) is seeking a dedicated High School Science Teacher for the 2026-2027 academic year. AECP is New Jersey’s first public charter school offering STEAM pathways, allowing students to earn college credits, credentials, and workplace training. The school is committed to ensuring students graduate with mastery, skills, and experiences essential for the current marketplace and beyond. A quantifiable track record of academic results and a commitment to feedback and improvement are essential. Cultural awareness, sensitivity, and asset-based thinking are also key attributes. Teachers will collaborate to continuously improve curriculum and instruction, possess expert content knowledge in Biology, Earth Science, or Physical Science, and be familiar with Next Generation Standards. Responsibilities include designing and implementing curriculum and assessments, using data to refine instruction, participating in weekly coaching, managing student behavior, implementing engagement techniques, ensuring student mastery of academic standards, utilizing Google Classroom and virtual platforms, and communicating effectively with students, families, and colleagues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree is required
  • Teaching experience in an upper elementary, middle, or high school with an underserved population
  • Adept interpersonal and communication skills to diverse audiences
  • Valid NJ Teacher Certification completed or in progress

Responsibilities

  • Expert in content knowledge in Biology, Earth Science, Physical Science
  • Familiarity with Next Generation Standards
  • Design and implement curriculum and assessments that measure progress towards academic standards
  • Use data to refine curriculum and inform instructional practices
  • Receptive to weekly coaching and committed to growing and strengthening practice
  • Provide consistent rewards and/or consequences for student behavior
  • Implement multiple techniques for increased student engagement and checking for understanding
  • Will be accountable for students’ mastery of academic standards
  • Familiarity with Google Classroom and virtual meeting platforms
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues
