About The Position

Coordinates on- and off-campus college preparatory activities for high school students; implements partnerships with local high schools; participates in Gannon’s summer academic camps; works within a local high school(s) and on campus to serve and coordinate services for high school students with academic potential; works with internal and external constituents to develop, implement, and assess new college preparatory programming while enhancing and assessing existing programs. Must be able to support and promote the University’s Mission.

Requirements

A Bachelor’s degree is required
At least 2 years of experience working with high school and/or college students is required.
Must have knowledge of academic and motivational advising, college and career counseling, student skills counseling, and mentoring; effective presentation skills; excellent verbal and written communication skills; the ability to work collaboratively and maintain strict confidentiality of all records and assessments; and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
A valid driver’s license is required.
Must have passed all clearances ( FBI , state background, child abuse clearances) and complete required ESD mandatory reporting prior to starting work.
Must be able to support and promote the University’s Mission.

Nice To Haves

A master’s degree (or in process) is preferred.
Experience with TRIO programs

Responsibilities

Works/meets with high school principals and guidance counselors to coordinate and provide academic support along with dual enrollment scheduling & advising within the high school(s)
Plans campus and career focused field trips, along with summer programming.
Provides high school students with financial aid and scholarship skills/exploration including FAFSA , PHEAA , and local scholarships
Provides parents/guardians with information about college preparation.
Coordinates monthly workshops for GO College participants.
Maintains regular contact with the GO College director and local and regional high school officials.
Records, analyzes, and maintains student contacts, grades, and other forms of student assessment.
Maximizes the use of technology to support initiatives.
Attends GO College staff meetings to coordinate programming.
Performs other duties as assigned within the scope and responsibility and requirements of the job.
