About The Position

Goodman Community Center is looking for a High School Program Coordinator to join their youth programs team. This is a hands-on, direct service role working with high school-aged youth in afterschool and summer programs. The role involves building relationships with teens, leading activities, helping them navigate challenges, supporting their goals, and creating a welcoming environment. The program structure, curriculum, and guidance are provided by the High School and TEENworks Managers. The ideal candidate connects well with teenagers, is dependable and organized, and is comfortable assisting wherever needed.

Requirements

  • Experience working with middle or high school-aged youth (from a job, school, recreation program, mentoring, coaching, volunteering, or similar setting).
  • Ability to connect with teenagers while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
  • Confidence supervising and engaging groups of youth.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • A valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, and willingness to drive a 14-passenger van.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Availability to work the regular 11:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m. weekday schedule and occasional weekends.
  • Ability to successfully complete required background checks.

Responsibilities

  • Build positive, consistent relationships with high school-aged youth.
  • Supervise and engage teens during daily programming, field trips, and special activities.
  • Facilitate planned activities focused on academics, life skills, employment readiness, health and wellness, and college and career exploration.
  • Coach teens participating in employment and work-based learning experiences.
  • Help youth build social-emotional skills, work through conflicts, and make positive choices.
  • Create a safe, inclusive, welcoming environment where young people feel comfortable participating and being themselves.
  • Help prepare activities, spaces, materials, meals and snacks, field trips, and other program needs.
  • Track attendance and complete routine program documentation.
  • Transport youth in Goodman vehicles, including a 14-passenger van.
  • Work alongside a collaborative team of High School, TEENworks, and other Goodman staff.
