About The Position

Prep Academy Tutors is a private in-home and online tutoring company that delivers flexible and personalized tutoring programs to students in San Diego. They specialize in all Kindergarten - grade 12 subject areas and hire certified teachers and Subject Matter Experts, offering higher wages than the industry average. This role involves providing academic support in Math (Integrated Math II and III) and Chemistry to students in the Encinitas and 4S Ranch areas. Support is typically one to two hours per week per student and continues throughout the school year.

A qualified applicant will have a bachelor’s degree
Hold a valid California State teaching certificate or the equivalent thereof
Be a current student teacher pursuing a teaching certificate
Have two or more years of experience as a private or charter school classroom teacher.
Have experience as a lecturer/course instructor at an accredited U.S. University or College
Be a Master's/PhD student with experience as a teaching assistant at an accredited U.S. University or College

Responsibilities

Provide academic support to students based on expertise and knowledge of the state curriculum.
Provide supplemental assignments to students to help promote a greater understanding of the material.
Provide a customized approach tailored to the individual needs of each student.
Coach students on effective study skills and organizational strategies.
Communicate with parents or guardians to discuss student progress.
