About The Position

Harrisonburg City Public Schools is seeking a High School Math Teacher for the 2026-2027 School Year. This position reports to the Principal and is a 200-day contract. The ideal candidate will possess or qualify for a Virginia Collegiate Professional license with a specific endorsement in mathematics. This role requires outstanding knowledge and skill in mathematics instruction, enthusiasm for teaching, and a commitment to the learning process. The teacher will demonstrate proficiency in scientifically-based research implementation, public speaking, written communication, and the use of instructional technology. Emotional maturity, objectivity, sensitivity, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively are essential. Experience with diverse populations and learning needs is highly preferred, as is familiarity with racial equity and inclusion frameworks.

Requirements

Possesses or qualify for a Virginia Collegiate Professional license with specific endorsement in the area to which assigned.
Possesses outstanding knowledge and skill in the assigned instructional area and demonstrates enthusiasm for teaching and the learning process.
Demonstrates knowledge of instructional strategies and skills related to scientifically-based research and its implementation.
Proficiency in public speaking and written communication to express and/or exchange ideas.
Proficiency in the use of a variety of instructional technology including computers with experience in Microsoft Office, email and other applications.
Emotionally mature, objective and sensitive to people and their concerns.
Able to handle responsibility, work independently, and maintain collaborative working relationships with students, families, staff, co-workers and community agencies.
Experience working directly with individuals and families from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Required License (One or more are required to qualify for this position): Provisional Career Switcher, Statement of Eligibility, Collegiate Professional, Post-Graduate Professional, Applied for License, Eligible for License.
