About The Position

This position is for a High School Math Teacher for the 2026-2027 School Year at Harrisonburg City Public Schools. The teacher will be responsible for establishing and implementing daily lesson plans, evaluating student learning, and differentiating instruction to meet diverse learning needs. The role requires maintaining appropriate student behavior, demonstrating subject matter knowledge, and effectively motivating students. Communication with students, parents, and the community is essential, as is maintaining professional, moral, and ethical standards. The teacher will participate in continuous professional development and collaborate with peers, staff, parents, and community resources to support student success. Responsibilities also include maintaining accurate records, adhering to school policies, and ensuring a safe learning environment. The teacher must maintain appropriate state licensure and participate in staff development to stay current with materials and skills.

Requirements

Possesses or qualify for a Virginia Collegiate Professional license with specific endorsement in the area to which assigned.
Possesses outstanding knowledge and skill in the assigned instructional area and demonstrates enthusiasm for teaching and the learning process.
Demonstrates knowledge of instructional strategies and skills related to scientifically-based research and its implementation.
Proficiency in public speaking and written communication to express and/or exchange ideas.
Proficiency in the use of a variety of instructional technology including computers with experience in Microsoft Office, email and other applications.
Emotionally mature, objective and sensitive to people and their concerns.
Able to handle responsibility, work independently, and maintain collaborative working relationships with students, families, staff, co-workers and community agencies.
Experience working directly with individuals and families from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Required License: Provisional Career Switcher, Statement of Eligibility, Collegiate Professional, Post-Graduate Professional, Applied for License, or Eligible for License.
