About The Position

RFK Community Alliance is seeking a passionate High School History Teacher and/or Secondary Special Education Teacher to join Don Watson Academy, our therapeutic day school serving students ages 9–21 with social and emotional disabilities. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Massachusetts teaching license in History or Moderate Disabilities (5–12) preferred

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree preferred

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, student-centered history instruction that integrates social-emotional learning and self-regulation strategies.
  • Develop and monitor academic and skill-based goals aligned with IEPs, collaborating with the Educational Coordinator and interdisciplinary team.
  • Foster a trauma-informed, supportive classroom environment that promotes student growth and success.
  • Design and lead experiential elective courses based on student interests.
  • Participate in school events, transition programming, team meetings, supervision, and ongoing professional development.
  • Maintain a structured classroom that supports safety, learning, and social-emotional development.
