About The Position

The High School Girls Volleyball Coach is responsible for coaching student athletes in game strategies and techniques to prepare them for athletic competition. The position motivates student athletes to develop an appreciation of the sport, improve their academics, stimulate personal growth, and learn the game of volleyball.

Requirements

Must possess effective coaching techniques and skills.
Must possess a thorough knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of the sport.
Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, parents, and students.
Must be able to complete a criminal background check as well as an Indiana Department of Children's Services check.

Nice To Haves

Experience as a volleyball coach or assistant coach at the high school or college level is preferred.

Responsibilities

Holds organizational meetings for team prospects and encourages potential athletes to participate in the sport.
Assesses player’s skills and assigns team positions.
Develops a regular practice schedule and organizes practice time to provide both individual and team development.
Works with the athletic director in scheduling facilities for practices and competitions.
Assigns duties to assistant coaches as necessary.
Coaches and instructs players, individually or in groups, regarding the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport.
Observes players during competition and practice to determine the needs for individual or team improvement.
Determines game strategy based on the team’s capabilities.
Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior and provides proper supervision of athletes at all times.
Monitors the academic performance of team members to ensure that eligibility requirements are met; and encourages student athletes to maintain a high academic standard.
Follows established procedures in the event of an athlete’s injury.
Follows state, regional, and district regulations governing the athletic program.
Models sports-like behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators.
Follows established procedures for the proper care, maintenance, and requisitioning of equipment, supplies, and uniforms.
Maintains eligibility forms, emergency data, participation records, equipment inventory, and other related records.
Models nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
Attends staff development meetings, clinics, and other professional activities to improve coaching performance.
Maintains/updates electronic websites required by school and/or state mandates in a timely basis.
Organizes and attends the fundraising dates that are available for the athletics program.
Performs any other related duties as assigned by the Principal & Athletic Director or other appropriate administrator.
Attends the Athlete Leadership Camp or equivalent event.
Attends any required coaches meetings, HPC all conference voting, and IHSAA meetings necessary to fulfill their responsibilities.
Demonstrates foundational professionalism, including consistent attendance, punctuality, adherence to school policies and procedures, and strong employability skills.
